Ukraine is situated in Central Europe and it is a unitary state. Every province which comprised into this country has got its own local authorities. The capital of Ukraine – Kiev and Sevastopol have the status of separate provinces too. Ukraine has a semi-presidential republic. It has set after an orange revolution in December 2004. Nowadays the system of power in that country has a very interesting structure: the power is divided between several branches of authority. Ukraine has a common boundary with ten countries. These countries are Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Moldova and Slovakia. The country is in the main treeless plain with mountains in the Crimea and not high Carpathian Mountains. The imaginary line that is considered to be the boundary between the eastern and the western parts of the country is river Dnieper. There is a great deal of hydroelectric power plants are placed on river Dnieper. The winters owing to the soft climate are not very cold. It snows often and most rivers get covered by ice. The rain is frequently observed in summertime usually but in general, summers are very hot.
Agriculture is the area that is quite developed in that region. It is caused by such favorable climate conditions. The well developed agricultural sphere permits Ukraine to export their production to many countries. It exports sugar, corn, vegetables, etc. Kiev is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was established approximately in the 5th century and has got long and interesting history. All the Slavic civilizations have come from this city. It was established as a little trade settlement but it has grown into the incredible modern megapolis. The decline of development of Kiev was caused by the Mongolian incursion in the 13th century, the city was completely demolished for a very long time. In the 20th century Kiev was the metropolis of Ukrainian Soviet Republic that was comprised into the Soviet Union. It was a good opportunity for Kiev to become a prominent city again. The population of Kiev is growing at a high speed and according to the census info in 2003 it was about 3 million people. Looking from the point of view of nationalities, the capital of Ukraine is quite diverse. There are about 130 ethnic groups living in Kiev. In the second part of 20th century its population grew considerably as a result of development of real estate building in this city. After the independence there appeared modern condominiums, chic restaurants and five star hotels.
Statistics says that the average emolument in Kiev increased a lot for last six years. That means the economics of Ukraine becomes more and more constant and powerful. Experienced economical forecasters say that Ukraine will become a member of WTO in a quite short period.
